" Without seeing and experiencing life how can an artist possibly have anything to paint ?"
"Born in 1960 I have always maintained a passion for art, Graduating from St Martins London with a Fine Art Degree in 1981 and going on to work as an interior designer in the UK and internationally for twenty years. Only occasionally exhibiting but continually producing commissioned artwork for clients. Moving to Cornwall six years ago, originally to study for an MA in 20thC Art & Design Histories & Theories I have finally found the time and a space in which to paint.
Embarking on this journey through the discourse of abstraction and selectively sifting a lifetime of memories Trudy communicates with the viewer via her unique style and narrative. With an inherently professional eye for the use of colour and form, Trudy integrates visual elements with scratched writing, type-forms, poetry and found objects, creating emotional overtones and suggestion of her personal insights amongst the layers.
Jackson Pollock "every good painter paints what he is"
Damien Hirst "reason is powerless in the expression of love"
Frida Kahlo "the only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever
passes through my head without any consideration"
